November Magic

Frosty view from my bedroom window.

I wrote this as a Facebook status a year ago, and a whole bunch of friends have re-shared it this year. I’m so glad that it has brought a little joy and cheer to people at such a dark time of year, that I thought I should share it again here:

November, the month when everyone is low and tired – summer is a half-remembered dream, and spring seems such a long way off – but sometimes there’s a silver lining:
Someone has sneaked in overnight and scattered sack-loads of tiny diamonds everywhere.
Or maybe it’s fairy dust.

Every blade of grass and leaf is glittering; horses are breathing white smoke like dragons, and their hooves crunch instead of clip-clopping.

Glad to be alive.
